Australia’s getting a big new festival called Babylon this summer

As if this week didn’t already have enough excitement, we’ve just got the first names on the line-up for a huge brand new Australian festival.

Earlier this year a new event called Babylon revealed it would be launching in March, but it wasn’t until this week that they started dropping the names on their inaugural line-up. Babylon – which promises “a weekend-long musical escape in the wildlands of Victoria and New South Wales” – have drip-fed the first two names on their 2017 bill and leading the charge is Planetary Assault Systems, AKA techno wizard Luke Slater, visiting Australia for the first time in years.

This morning Babylon revealed that Israeli psytrance duo Infected Mushroom are also on the bill and, better yet, will be programming an entire ‘Friends of Mushrooms’ stage at the festival. The full Babylon line-up drops on November 3, so stay tuned to find who else they’ve recruited – promoters say the programming will focus on “techno, psytrance, trip-hop, deep house and experimental beats”.

Babylon will hit two outdoor locations in New South Wales and Victoria over the Labour Day long weekend, going down from March 10 – 12 and 10 – 13 respectively. Exact venues are still TBA; head back to inthemix next week for more info.
